POLICIES

 

Free Consultation: I offer a limited number of free consulation slots every month. I am only one option for professional services in this community. I will assist you in seeking another source of psychotherapeutic help if/when either you or I consider a referral to be in your best interests. Since many variables are important in one's life, I may recommend referral to other practitioners such as clinical nutritionists, exercise therapists, specialists, etc. My policy is that if you choose to continue psychotherapy with me, I will charge you and your insurance for the initial consultation at my regular rate.

Missed/Cancelled Appointments: I will be as flexible as possible regarding changing appointments.  However, I request a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellation of regularly scheduled, standing appointments with the exception of unforeseen emergencies. Any regularly scheduled, standing appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be charged for the time reserved since I am likely not to be able to fill that time.  

Telephone Communications:  I will make myself as available as I can for ongoing telephone communications with patients and families.  Usually, all calls are returned within 24 hours. If it is an emergency that cannot wait for a returned call, please all 911 or go the nearest emergency room. Telephone communication requiring more than 30 minutes will be pro-rated at my hourly rate for standard sessions.

Written Materials:  Please give me as much notice as possible when requesting written summaries, documentation, or letters.  As mandated by law, I request that patients and families sign a release of information prior to my releasing any information to third parties.  Documentation requiring more than 30 minutes to prepare will be pro-rated at my hourly rate for standard sessions.     

Insrance: A portion of this fee is usually paid through a client's "out of network" insurance coverage. Since receiving reimbursement from insurance company can be both complicated and frustrating, I have a full-time staff that will fill out related forms and follow up with insurance companies to increase the likelihood of reimbursement. However, payment remains due regardless of insurance reimbursement. I have a limited number of clients for which I provide services on a sliding scale. Sliding scale details can be discussed during your initial consultation.
